This Mulberry silk fabric is a variety of domestic silk in Assam. Assam silk fabric is made a three major types of indigenous wild silks produced in Assam—golden muga, white pat and warm eri silk. Muga silk is known for its extreme durability and has a natural yellowish-golden tint with a shimmering, glossy texture. Pat silk or White pat silk is known as Mulberry silk of Assam. Pat silk is used in products like mekhelas, chadars and other textiles.
