About the breed
The Exmoor is a white faced, horned breed of sheep that originated in remote regions of West Somerset and Devon. They are an ancient breed, and remains of similar sheep have been found among artifacts from Roman encampments.
The sheep are hardy, having adapted to harsh winters and sparse pasture. It is a dual-purpose sheep raised for both wool and meat. They are recognized as an intrinsic part of the Exmoor landscape, and a valuable asset in grazing environmentally sensitive areas.
